Cutaneous is an education platform for medical specialists, founded in 2019 by Dr Peter Velthuis and Dr Leonie Schelke, and further strengthened by Dr Mauricio Cerón B., MD. It was created with a clear mission: to bring deeper facial anatomical understanding, greater precision, and a stronger culture of safety into everyday clinical practice by harnessing the full potential of ultrasound in aesthetic medicine.
We offer both self-paced online modules and highly focused hands-on trainings in key cities around the globe. Our community is built for dermatologists, aesthetic physicians, plastic surgeons and medical injectors who want to elevate their practice. The aim is simple: inject with more clarity, plan with more confidence, and raise the standard of safety in aesthetic medicine – without losing the joy and curiosity of learning.
Cutaneous has pioneered a new field of application: “filler anatomy”. Living anatomy visualized with ultrasound is in many ways different from the static understanding we gain from dissection and atlases. Using an ultrasound probe to view the face from multiple angles during filler application allows clinicians to move beyond assumptions and see the individual anatomy in real time: tissue layers, vessels and even previously injected filler can be identified with high precision.
The impact is clear: ultrasound guidance helps avoid many potential complications and supports more natural, harmonious treatment outcomes. Integrated consistently into aesthetic injectables – including neurotoxin, fillers and more – ultrasound enhances safety and efficacy, and ultimately leads to higher patient satisfaction.

Profound hands-on training courses
Attending dermatologists, aesthetic physicians, and plastic surgeons will be taught to master ultrasound using a systematic approach to cosmetic facial anatomy, also educating them to recognise previous fillers injected as well as to identify grave complications as i.e. an arterial blockade. After completing the Cutaneous Base course, physicians will be fully equipped to apply ultrasound in their day to day practice and thus work safer and better.
